Adapted from the Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen

nice!

hahahaha !
Really Hilarious !
I am writing this prayer down !
and I do Feel Some guilt now, since i am a software developer, you made me see it from the other way round
Do really end users suffer as well ? do they suffer that much to the point of having to make up a prayer !
Usually my point of view is the pain we got from the stupid users ( i am sure u read those support jokes if u know what i mean )
a very interesting start ! I am keeping an eye on the blog :D
Keep up the good work

@lifegeeked : I too was a hard core code crunching machine (part of mine still is) prior to going to grad school (hence your comics make sense to me:D).
On a more serious note, when I used the IT systems in my previous company as a business user, I realized how naive I was when it came to anticipating the end user needs as a developer. And this happened because as a developer I never got to interact with my end users. Also, the only time I used the systems was when I needed to test them. I never used them as an end user would.
The consequences of this were
1. My understanding of the end user requirements was limited to my interpretation of the requirements document.
2. The end user was saddled with a system which was technically sound but a pain to use! (Think of those 'good' old days when programs were fed as hex codes. The computers were robust then but a pain to program!)
Btw , I agree with the pain caused by the stupid end users. I am one of them;)
PS : The programmers at my previous company were good when shown the end users perspective. That alleviated the need of a prayer for myself)
PPS: Nice to know that you liked our work:)

Oh.. the good old days :)
i wish i had more insights into those old days
I am very fond of old hardware.. if you can share some memories or pics
I can imagine it in my head few years from now Being a GrandMa telling the kids tales of our latest tech as "the good old days"
We have a use it ourselves policy at current company
that is how we introduced lot of changes (it was easier to code the feature than to have to do repetitive work :P)
a technical blogging question : when/ how often do u update ?
Posted by: LifeGeeked | November 19, 2008 at 10:00 PM
@LifeGeeked will try and mail you some pics:) BTW, we update every week. Would like to post more frequently. However commitments at the product level holds me back. Don't want to commit and not deliver.
